Members of the Electricity Practice Group have acted as counsel to electricity generators, fuel suppliers, lenders and project owners. The firm has also represented parties in the structuring of joint venture arrangements among project owners.Legal aspects have included active participation in all aspects of the regulation of the electrical industry in Alberta including:

- Advising clients on the ongoing deregulation of the electric industries in Alberta and Ontario
- Tax planning
- Obtaining regulatory approvals such as electricity export authorizations
- Structuring and creating legal entities to own or operate projects
- Drafting and negotiating various project agreements such as construction contracts, power sale contracts, steam sale contracts, gas supply and transportation contracts
- Preparing loan agreements and financing agreements
- Due diligence reviews of projects for lenders and investors
