CPR Signs Application and Development Support Agreements with Leading Global Outsourcing Firms
On August 2, 2007, Canadian Pacific Railway, announced two separate multi-year agreements with IBM and Infosys Technologies that will focus on the application development associated with management and maintenance of CPR's core operations. These agreements represent a significant corporate outsourcing initiative, which will provide considerable capability and quality enhancement. The outsourcing of the day-to-day mechanics of supporting and developing applications will mean that internal staff will become more of a strategic partner and focus on leveraging technology to provide direction and insights to the future.

- Acted for TELUS and for Stentor in connection with the formation and the management of a strategic alliance with MCI.
- Acted for TELUS in connection with the formation and management of the Mobility Canada alliance.
- Acted for TELUS in connection with the formation of the Operations Development Consortium among Canada's incumbent carriers.
- Acquisition of the mobility billing operations of TELUS.
Negotiated Agreements for Various Carriers
Negotiated agreements for various carriers for a wide variety of billing and operations support systems, including agreements with Seibel, MetaSolv, Datap, Daleen, IBM, SAP, AllTel, Saville, Portal, Systematics, AmDocs, Sierra Systems, ADC, Convergys, and Telecordia.
Cell-Loc
Acted for Cell-Loc Inc. in connection with the development of a North American cellular location network, including negotiations with numerous owners of tower companies and building owners.
- Canadian Counsel to a major oil and gas multinational in an international outsourcing transaction with a major service provider.
- Counsel for telecommunications company on the formation and structuring of an outsourcing service provider as a joint venture. Complex transaction with a value in excess of $500M, which included the outsourcing of a mainframe computing environment and transfer of all associated employees.
- Numerous outsourcing and hosting/development agreements with various companies for mainframe, distributed computing and website environments.
- Counsel for a service provider in providing customer billing business process outsourcing services to a utility company.
- Counsel for Calgary Board of Education in the business process outsourcing to a service provider of its human resource management functions.
