We have leading Lloyd’s reinsurance and insurance disputes practices throughout the Group, most notably in Australia, Canada, South Africa as well as in London. We have advised Lloyd’s syndicates and their reinsurers on some of the most high profile disputes, including those arising out of the Australian bushfires and Californian wild fires.
Experience
We have advised on a number of high profile matters for our clients, including:
- advising on the first “public-to-private” in the Lloyd’s sector
- advising on three listed takeovers in the Lloyd’s market during 2005
- advising the lead investors on two new managing agencies formed during 2007
- advising on an innovative acquisition of a corporate member in run-off, protected through various stop loss reinsurance arrangements
- advising on 11 sub-ordinated debt issues for Lloyd’s groups.
We are actively involved in the wider “Lloyd’s market”. Members of the team are regularly asked to contribute to conferences and articles and their views on issues relevant to the sector are regularly sought by the press. Members of the team sit on the City of London Insurance Sub-Committee.
