Conference On The New Draft Antimonopoly, Antioligopoly And Unfair Competition Law In Venezuela

The Macleod Dixon office in Caracas participated in a conference on April 27 held by FEDECAMARAS (Federation of Trade and Industry Chambers) on the Venezuelan “New Draft Antimonopoly, Antioligopoly And Unfair Competition Law." Luis Ernesto Andueza, partner, Leopoldo Olavarría, partner, and Oscar Ghersi, associate, sat along side  members of the Economic Development Commission of the Venezuelan National Assembly, former Superintendent of PROCOMPETENCIA (the Venezuelan competition authority), and other experts to discuss the project or "Draft" for the new Anti-Monopoly, Anti-Oligopoly & Unfair Competition Law before an audience made up of major industry players.  This draft law was drawn up by the Special Commission to Prepare a Diagnosis of Monopolies, Hoarding and Speculation in Goods and Services, attached to the Social Development Commission, which was approved in its first discussion by the National Assembly. If approved by the National Assembly and enacted by the President of the Republic, this law will substitute the currently in force Law for the Promotion and Protection of Free Competition.
