Macleod Dixon Lawyers Awarded Queen's Counsel Designations
Calgary, Alberta, December 31, 2007 - Macleod Dixon's Clarke Hunter and Paul Drager each received Queen's Counsel (Q.C.) appointments today from the Alberta Department of Justice and Attorney General in recognition of their longstanding contributions to the legal community, and their positions of high regard within the profession.
Hunter has practised exclusively in the areas of litigation and dispute resolution since 1980, with emphasis most recently on disputes in the corporate/commercial, oil and gas, aboriginal and governmental areas. He has represented clients in domestic and international arbitrations, mediations, at all levels of the courts in Alberta, in the courts of two other provinces, and in the Federal Court, the Tax Court and the Supreme Court of Canada.
Drager's practice focuses on matters relating to international trade law, government relations and international resource issues, and since 1989, he has acted as outside counsel for a number of energy and natural resource companies negotiating projects in the former Soviet Union. Under Drager's direction, Macleod Dixon received the first formal accreditation by the Russian government for any Canadian law firm and established the first branch of a Canadian law firm in Moscow in 1990.
We are pleased that the many years of dedicated service by these lawyers to their clients and their community has been recognized by the award of this honour.
