Alf Peneycad
Prior to joining Macleod Dixon, as Of Counsel, Alf served as Vice-President, General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer for Petro-Canada, one of Canada’s leading corporations. As an Officer of the company he was charged with the responsibility of leading Petro-Canada’s Legal Services in Canada, the United States and internationally. As General Counsel, he supervised the activities of an in-house department of 35 lawyers located in Calgary, Toronto, Montreal and London, England.
Alf had a lead role in the major activities of Petro-Canada for more than twenty-five years including the acquisition of several major companies in Canada, the U.S. and internationally. In recent years he had a significant role in Petro-Canada’s $3.2 billion acquisition of the Veba Group of Companies in ten foreign countries; and in 2004, the completion of the sale by the federal government of its interest in Petro-Canada for $1.9 billion. While at Petro-Canada, Alf provided direction to the company's Corporate Secretariat which supervised their more than 100 subsidiaries in Canada and abroad. He served as an officer and director for most of these companies.
Alf serves as director on the boards of several public companies including Petro Andina Resources and PetroFalcon Corporation (both oil& gas) and R Split III Corp and Canadian Wireless Trust (both financial trusts).
He has appeared at many conferences to discuss a broad range of legal and business issues including corporate governance matters, compliance activities, competition issues and legal management.
