Anatoly E. Andriash
Anatoly’s career with Macleod Dixon began in 1996 when he joined the firm as an associate. In 2002, Anatoly was appointed Managing Partner of the firm’s practice in the Russian Federation. Previously, he had worked in the internal legal department of the State Customs Committee and as in-house legal counsel for a medical and then a construction company.
Anatoly is often commented by his peers and by professional legal ranking organizations for his "western concept of client service". His approach is that to give clients the level of service they expect, a legal practitioner needs to have not only an in-depth knowledge of the law and the judicial system, but also an excellent grasp of business and commercial issues. In this connection Anatoly recently successfully completed an MBA programme at a London business school.
Anatoly has been involved in several high profile and large-scale projects, building up an impressive portfolio of clients in the natural resources and telecommunications industries. Some examples of his transactional expertise include:
- Advising on optimal corporate strategies for companies working in the energy sector
- Project financing for various industries in Russia
- Acquisitions and dispositions in the sphere of natural resources and telecommunications
- Advising on IPOs and private placements in the capital markets sector
- Application of the Kyoto Protocol in Russia
- Cross-border transactions with the participation of Russian major oil & gas companies
Anatoly is a regular speaker at mining conferences. He has been elected Director of the Canada Russia Business Association (CERBA) in Moscow, a role he uses to promote and further strengthen ties between the Canadian and Russian business communities not only in Moscow, but also throughout Russia. Anatoly is a member of the International Bar Association.
Anatoly looks ahead to trends and developments in the practice of law in Russia. Not only is the world of doing business becoming increasingly complex but, according to Anatoly, clients are more sophisticated in the demands they place on a lawyer, expecting greater in-depth knowledge in a particular field of law coupled with an understanding of western business practices and commercial terms of the deals.
