Byron W. Loeppky
Byron principally practices in the areas of private company financing and private company mergers and acquisitions with an emphasis on merchant banking transactions and fund formation work. Over the past 15 years, while acting for strategic buyers, merchant banks, other private equity investors and private business owners, Byron has successfully led the completion of private equity and private M&A transactions valued in excess of $1.5b. In doing so, Byron has dealt with complex equity ownership and other shareholder arrangements, corporate governance issues, multi-tiered cross-border financings, arrangements, corporate reorganizations and refinancings, and employee incentive/compensation arrangements.
Byron has also been involved in the structuring and establishment of domestic and international funds for private equity investment including, most recently, a fund focused on investing in China based private businesses servicing domestic Chinese markets.
Earlier in his career, Byron was seconded to the Ontario Ministry of Finance as a policy advisor to the former Minister of Finance on financial institution matters including the implementation of the legislation which provided the Ontario Securities Commission with its "rule" making authority.
