Elisabeth Eljuri
Elisabeth is the Managing Partner of the Caracas office of Macleod Dixon and the head of the Corporate Department. She received her law degree cum laude from Universidad Católica Andrés Bello and Masters in Law (LL.M.) from Harvard Law School. Elisabeth is admitted to practice law in Venezuela and New York State.
Over the past 17 years of practice as a corporate lawyer, in addition to her contracts and general business practice, she heads the energy/oil and gas group of the office and advises oil and gas producers engaged in profit/production sharing agreements, gas licenses, upstream joint venture companies and extra-heavy oil strategic associations in Venezuela as well as midstream and downstream related and major projects. Major deals she has handled include corporate acquisitions of hydrocarbon companies and producing areas (in several Latin American countries), a crude oil storage and ship loading project, the world’s largest gas injection project, a major coal project and several acquisitions of other mining projects. Elisabeth also has extensive experience in the Mexican oil and gas regulatory framework due to her work in Mexico from 2001 to 2004. Elisabeth is considered a leading natural resources and energy practitioner in the Latin American Region. In 2007, Who’s Who in Oil and Gas selected Elisabeth as one of the top 12 energy practitioners worldwide, highlighting also her AIPN involvement over the past decade.
She has acted as co-counsel in several ICC arbitrations (domestic and international). She has also been retained as an independent expert in ICC arbitrations in New York and spoken internationally as well as published in the area of energy and resources disputes.

- Elisabeth and other Macleod Dixon lawyers assisted Pemex, the National Oil Company of Mexico, from 2001 to 2004, in the creation and award of the Multiple Services Contracts. The MSCs represented the first arrangement permitting international oil companies to conduct activities in Mexico since 1938.
