Ellen K. Embury
Ellen was called to the Ontario Bar in 2001 and joined Macleod Dixon's Calgary office in 2003. Prior to moving to Alberta, Ellen practiced in Toronto as both a defence and plaintiff's side lawyer, focusing on commercial, professional liability and personal injury matters.
Ellen's primary practice areas is insurance defence work, with a focus on personal injury, professional liability, and commercial litigation. Her practice encompasses the defence of architects, engineers, dentists, physiotherapists and other professionals. Ellen has experience in major commercial and product liability cases, and she also continues to act for both plaintiffs and defendants in personal injury matters.
As a member of the Employment Group, Ellen has represented Alberta employers in court and tribunal proceedings, including Canada Labour Code arbitrations. She also provides advice to employers on Occupational Health and Safety matters.
Ellen is also a member of the Class Actions Group, and has been involved in the defence of class action lawsuits in Alberta and Ontario.
