Fernando Fernández

Fernando received his law degree from Universidad Santa Maria de Venezuela in 1976. He completed the tax specialization program in 1979 at the School of Economy at the Universidad Central de Venezuela, the Finance program of Institute of Advanced Administration Studies (IESA) and the Management and Leadership programs at Columbia University and Harvard University respectively.

Fernando is a senior tax partner who has more than thirty years of experience in tax advice, tax compliance and tax consulting.

Before joining Macleod Dixon in July 2005, Fernando was admitted as a tax partner in 1985 in a leading international tax consulting firm, after leading as head of tax practices in two other of the major international tax firms in Venezuela.

During 1998 and 1999 Fernando was a regional Partner in charge of the tax practices of the Andean Countries. He has ample experience in Latin American tax consulting.  He specializes in tax litigation and tax consulting/planning, with emphasis in the financial/accounting matters, specifically as applied to corporate reorganizations and restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, international double taxation, service joint ventures and consortia, cross-border leasing and financing structures, mainly in the sectors of oil and gas, telecommunications, utilities, technology and manufacturing.

Fernando is recognized as one of the Leading Tax Lawyers in cross-border structuring in Venezuela by World Tax 2006, the comprehensive guide to the world's leading tax firms. He is also listed as a leading practitioner, appearing in the Chambers Global publication The World's Leading Lawyers.

Fernando was the Chairman of the Tax Committee of Venamcham between 1985 and 1987 and was a professor of tax at the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello in the School of Economics and Business Administration.
