Juan Carlos Pró-Rísquez
Juan Carlos received his law degree magna cum laude from Universidad Central de Venezuela in 1990 and received his Master of Laws from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas in 1994. He is currently completing his Doctorate of Laws at the Universidad Central de Venezuela.
Juan Carlos joined Macleod Dixon as a partner in October 1999. Prior to joining the firm, he practiced at two other international law firms for about ten years. He specializes in labour law, specifically as applied to oil and gas companies, service companies, pharmaceutical companies and airlines.
Juan Carlos has extensive experience negotiating collective bargaining agreements on behalf of employers. He has been a negotiator in the Collective Labour Bargaining Unit within the following Venezuelan industries and business: Chemical-Pharmaceutical industry, Textile Confection industry, Brinks, Servicio Panamericano de Proteccion, S.A., Asea Brown Boveri, S.A., Snaks America Latina, S.A., Inveca Pittsburgh, C.A., and Siemens, S.A. Juan Carlos has also been involved in litigation before labour and tax tribunals and proceedings before administrative authorities regarding labour matters. He has a strong background in negotiating and writing individual labour contracts and labour settlements, as well as the distribution contracts, labour planning, non-labour contracts and expatriate transfers. In addition, Juan Carlos has consulted on matters regulated by the Organic Labour Law, Organic Prevention Law, and Social Security Law.
Juan Carlos participates regularly as speaker in several conferences regarding Labour Law in Venezuela.
