Pavel V. Kwinto

Pavel began his career with one of Russia’s largest coal trading houses as legal advisor on commercial matters and was soon thereafter promoted to head of their legal department.

Before joining Macleod Dixon as an associate in mid 2008, Pavel had worked for Russian and international law firms.

For more than five years, Pavel has represented clients in domestic and international transactions entailing acquisition and disposal of businesses, entry into existing joint ventures involving multi-jurisdictional law and fielding anti monopoly issues - often in the role of lead lawyer.

Pavel has assisted large and high profile companies with restructuring, advising on optimal corporate vehicles to achieve his clients’ business needs and on the application of international treaties on protection of foreign investors’ rights.

Pavel has experience advising on employment law in the pharmaceuticals, automotive, mineral resource and electrical power industries, in particular on issues related to staff reduction and compensation, negotiating and drawing up employment agreements.

Contractual and regulatory law is also a thriving part of Pavel’s legal practice across a wide range of disciplines including transportation, energy, mining and publishing industries, advising on such matters as sale and transportation contracts, customs issues etc.

In addition, Pavel has expertise in trust law. He has advised local clients on ownership and administration of foreign corporate structures and assisted them in setting up trusts and private funds in overseas jurisdictions.
